Recognizing Outstanding Achievements, Intense Competition, and a Thrilling Finale between Pink and Green Teams
The Crossfit 2023 Open has ended, after three looooong weeks of pushing our endurance, strength, agility, and overall fitness levels to the limit, resulting in plenty of sweat and a few tears. Although most participants have completed their Open journey, those who ranked in the top 10% will move on to the Quarter Finals, commencing on March 19th. Before announcing the winning team of our internal competition, we would like to recognize some outstanding achievements that deserve celebration. The Open isn't just about going to the Crossfit Games, it really is your own test to see if you have improved on how YOU did last year. For some it is a first pull up or a first ring muscle up. For some it's the first time to try RX, or it's a PR on a lift.
At WAO we are so proud of some of the things we saw throughout this competition. Jimbo with his first toes to bar, Motoko with 50 unbroken Double Unders (after only learning them last week!) The world has watched Tia Clair Toomey in awe as she completes these workouts, we feel the same way about watching Tara come in each week with the determination and destroy the workout. Highlights have been watching the determination of the young ones- Bell persisting with her Dubs and coming back for a second attempt, Layla smashing the scaled workout then deciding to try RX and Maya crushing all the workouts. The Singaporean WAO Women took all the places in the top 5 for the 44-49s. With Adeline, Cass and Claudine coming 1st in their age groups. Shoutout to our true Masters 55+ , Matt with one of the heaviest Thrusters globally and Yvette and Pete ranking high in their groups. Congratulations to everyone who participated, now on to Quarterfinals for Cory, Ana, Rich, Peter, Yvette, Bianca, Dani and Team WAO Crossfit Pineapples.
Now finally to the important stuff… Which team won?? The CrossFit Open at WAO Fitness has come to an exciting conclusion, with both Pink and Green teams putting in their best efforts. Week one saw Pink take the lead, but Green came back strong in week two, setting the stage for a thrilling final week showdown. After the hard work during Open workout 23.3, the winner of the internal competition is finally revealed, and it's none other than Team Green! Congratulations to the Green team for their hard work, determination, and perseverance throughout the CrossFit Open. Both teams should be proud of their efforts, but ultimately our community is the winner. Without everyone's help this wouldn't be possible, thank you to all our judges and volunteers, who gave up so much time to No Rep people, our photographer Bi for capturing the memories and all the people who brought food to share.
We hope that this competition has inspired and motivated everyone to continue pushing themselves and achieving their fitness goals. Well done to both Pink and Green teams for their impressive performances, and congratulations once again to Team Green for their victory!
WE ARE ONE!
